Irreversible Change

May 3, 2013 at 6:23 am (Dani Clark, Poetry)

What is it about waiting for onions and garlic to fry

To the point of translucence

That fills me

with all the time passing?

Observe it.

Pay it homage.

Even the waiting.

How many times have I stood there?

Looking down at those fragrant carriers

Stirring and watching

the miniature universes

encapsulated in each tiny imperfect square

altered by the fire.

then disappeared into something bigger,

like pureed tomatoes.

That’s what they call

Irreversible change.
